We Have A Winner!
Hello Friends
Apologies for the absence.
The Christmas markets did end up being all-consuming after all and now, after 20 days straight of standing outside at Chatsworth in all weathers, I’ve snatched some time to sit down and produce this week’s short newsletter.
Let me start by welcoming all of you new subscribers who I’m assuming have been attracted by our advert in RCM&E magazine.
The November prize draw for the amazing Balsa Basics 42" RC Super Cub and Electronics Pack proved very enticing and I’m pleased to announce the winner as Simon C. of Peterborough!
Congratulations Simon - we’ve contacted you directly to arrange delivery.
Side note: Someone asked after a previous newsletter, why we don’t give out the full name of the prize winners. It’s all to do with very boring GDPR regulations requiring permissions, etc. Needless to say, if you haven’t received a personal email from us informing you that you have won, I’m sorry but you’ve missed out this time.
Another Magnificent Flying Machine Inbound
You may have noticed last time that I let slip the exciting news (at least for us!) that the next MFM model from the Andrew Darby design hangar will be a rubber-powered Fokker Dr.1 triplane.
It has taken me only 9 years to persuade Andrew to produce one as we knew this would be a massive best-seller amongst gift buyers not necessarily involved in the hobby.
I can’t wait to get this in front of next year’s Christmas market visitors.
Here are some pics of Andrew’s first prototype taking shape:
Just your 58 ribs cut from 1/20” balsa (yes you read that correctly) - what a cracker this is going to be.
Before you purists bombard us with objections to the slight dihedral in the model, Andrew will be providing you with the option to have less dihedral or even none in the finished kit.
COMMUNITY BUILDS
Just one community build this time from Geoff Hodgson who sent in these pictures of his KK Elf.
Geoff said:
Please find attached pictures of my Elf model that I have just finished.
A very good kit that went together very well.
Flat acetate for the windows would be helpful rather than rolled, much easier to stick on!
Thanks Geoff and we’ll take on board your request for flat acetate.
Well that’s it for today.
Next weekend there will be a full length Aerogramme with some meaty aero-modelling goodness.
All the best
Hadi & the VMC Team
